Lebron James has made the unusual move of endorsing a candidate for the upcoming Presidential election. The NBA star has backed Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton, in an op-ed, published Sunday.
In a piece posted on Business Insider, James expressed the need for a President, who he believes will build on the legacy of President Obama. In the piece, he talks about his confidence in Clinton’s ability to handle issues he believes to be important, including: education reforms, affordable and accessible health care, and addressing violence in African American communities.
Clinton will be campaigning in James’ hometown of Akron, Ohio today, but the Cavaliers player won’t be in attendance. Clinton has recently been trailing Republican candidate, Donald Trump, in the polls in Ohio, which is a key battleground state in the presidential election.
