A Frankfort judge tossed Governor Matt Bevin’s order to replace the University of Louisville’s board of trustees in its entirety Wednesday.
The Governor argued that the board was unconstitutional because it wasn’t diverse enough.
He dismissed the board and appointed a new one, which a Franklin County circuit court judge says was acting as judge, jury and executioner and illegal.
During a news conference afterward, Attorney General Andy Beshear, who sued bevin over the order, said that Bevin texted him the night before: “I would strongly suggest that you get your house in order. you office is becoming an increasing embarrassment to the commonwealth.”
Beshear says he didn’t respond, because he was trying to be the adult in the situation.
